Benchmarking —
Supplier Environmental Sustainability Performance Report - 2011
This is the third benchmark report developed for the Electric Utility Industry Sustainable
Supply Chain Alliance. It focuses on their suppliers' commitment to environmental
sustainability. The 2011 metric report includes data provided by 292 different suppliers
who were categorized as being manufacturers or non-manufacturers. This benchmark
report looks at how key suppliers are addressing Policy and Environmental Management,
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions, Energy Consumption, Water Consumption, Waste and
Materials Management, and Innovation. CAPS Research sponsor organizations can access
the report now on the sponsor-only website Knowledge Central (www.capsknowledge.org).
The report will be available on the public website (www.capsresearch.org)
on February 1, 2012.
CPO Insights —
Purchasing Surety Bonds as a Risk Mitigation Strategy
Virtually all public-funded construction work in the U.S.A. is accomplished by private
sector firms. This work generally is awarded to the lowest bidder through
the open competitive sealed bid system. Surety bonds play a critical role in making
the system work. In today's challenging economic climate, bonds can play a role
in corporate risk mitigation strategies beyond typical construction projects, such
as major engineered-to-order capital equipment. Read how CAPS Research sponsor CPOs
responded to questions about a bond's use as a mitigation strategy and the challenges
or drawbacks encountered.

Benchmarking Opportunities
Measuring Supplier Diversity Program Performance
Now in data collection, this survey provides participants an opportunity to gauge
their own progress in implementing and successfully managing commonly defined supplier
diversity best practices. The survey also focuses on spend metrics (goals as well
as attainment), percent of active suppliers considered to be diversity suppliers,
and if there is an expectation that diversity spend will either increase, decrease,
or not change during the next two years. If you did not receive an invitation and
are interested in participating, please send an email to
metrics@capsresearch.org.
On-Demand Benchmarking Programs
Did you know that you can outsource your custom benchmarking needs to CAPS Research?
With our tools and technologies, we can support programs that range from supplier
environmental sustainability (are your suppliers addressing environmental sustainability
issues) to measuring internal/external customer satisfaction (how does your internal
customer base gauge your supply group's performance).
