J. Shipman Gold Medal Award
On behalf of the CAPS Research organization, I'm extremely proud to announce this
year's J. Shipman Gold Medal Award - the supply management profession's highest
honor - was presented to our friend and colleague, Robert Monczka, Ph.D., C.P.M.,
at the Institute for Supply Management's™ (ISM) 93rd Annual International
Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit. Bob is the Director of Strategic
Sourcing and Supply Chain Strategy Research here at CAPS Research, and is also the
Distinguished Research Professor of Supply Chain Management at the W. P. Carey School
of Business, Arizona State University. This award is presented to individuals whose
modest, unselfish, sincere, and persistent efforts have aided the advancement of
the supply management field. For over 25 years, Bob has researched, taught and consulted
about strategic sourcing and supply management strategies and implementation processes.

Board of Trustees
CAPS Research Board of Trustees recently elected three leading supply management
professionals to serve as Trustees: Susan Brownell is the Vice President of Supply
Management at the U.S. Postal Service; Beverly Gaskin is the Executive Vice President
of Supply Management at Rolls-Royce North America; and John S. Gundersen, C.P.M.
is the Group Executive for Global Supply and Contracts at Newmont Mining Corporation.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting overall operating policies and
procedures, and establishing key research programs for CAPS Research.
